Ok my Bangshift Brethren ease my doubt. Every ring I've ever installed had a dimple or something signifying which side is up or top. The second ring is marked top, top ring has nothing. Now looking at it with bifocals it appears to me it's non-directional, either side up. Sealed Power tech was already closed. Took a picture, hope you can make it out.

Since the rings were resolved I got the Vette engine rotating assembly done, should have it ready to go back in by week's end.
