so I bought myself a gift....
    no, not a table

really, everyone should have a gantry crane

not sure how I would have gotten the left side ramp on without 'help'

they said 6 hours to assemble for 2 people... I have about 2 hours into this point

what's left is running the cables. fun fact, the instructions are fine print on 1/2 a 1/2 page book.... to be continued later today

*okay, a few thoughts on this one. The lack of good instructions is annoying, e.g. there are two lengths of bolts holding the ramps in place - and packaged so that you need to open 2 packages to put on one ramp.... or.... you put one package on one ramp and find out you needed those longer bolts on the ramp end....

I may upgrade this a bit - there are no sleeves in the bolts that hold the ramps in place - as that is the only thing which keeps the lift from collapsing when you don't bolt it to the floor... yeah...

      further progress

not thrilled with how this hangs in space

the stove you see in the back.... it's 30 degrees outside... 2 logs, 2 hours

I couldn't keep my other shop 10 degrees warmer then the outside with 2 electric heaters and a wood stove.

I have been thinking about getting a 4 post lift, almost moved in a building that had one left by the previous tenant. Let me know how many times you bang your head on the ramps to help me decide.

I bought the version that lifts taller than me, so hopefully (unless I jump) that number will be zero.

No hard hats were abused in the posting of that comment!

Steel toe shoes, on the other hand, well I'm going to hold back, because if I don't, polite people might be offended!

When I haven't worked under my hoist (2 post) for a while I evidently need a refresher course. After a few knocks and bangs the the muscle memory - remembers. I hate wearing hats so that's not a solution for me.

How long are your arms? If the lift is over your head doesn't that make working on the car difficult?

                      Yes I have lift envy.
