  • cam number ID small block dodge.

    Cam out of my 318.
Guy called it a "292" cam?
I heard this engine run with the cam, wouldn't that be very big for a 318?
anyway heres the number "911693" on the end of the cam.

I looked and looked but did not come up with anything. A 292 adv. dur. cam would be on the big side for a 318 in my opinion.

I would guess that it depends on the 318...if you build it like a 340 (good heads, compression, manifold, headers, etc) it would be just fine.

If you can find someone with the old Direct Connection engine book for small blocks there is a listing of cam numbers and specs. I think they still print these books under the "Mopar Performance" program. Worth a look, in any case.

I'm pretty sure the DC part numbers were just like normal Mopar part numbers, 7 digits starting with a 3 in the 70s. Unless he missed the first digit of the number, it's not a mopar part

I browsed through some of my catalogs last night, the closest type of part number I found was for Crane, they showed a six digit number, some of which started with "9". I didn't find a match in what I had (an old Summit catalog), but a Crane catalog might be worth looking at.

Re: cam number ID small block dodge.

I have looked around a bit and can't find anything.
Its got purple paint on it markings on it but I didn't come up with anything on purple camshaft site either???
It really sounded good but if I can't get specs im thinking about not using it and go with a Comp Cams magnum 480/280 if its bigger or sounds meaner?
