Not sure. One thing I remembered from the days my Dad was looking for an Eldo for Mom back in the 80's was that if the car was in the 6 or 4 cyl mode and it stalled, it wouldn't restart. The computer wasn't smart or quick enough to put the other cylinders back on to restart it. You had to reset the computer by pulling a battery cable or the fuse to the ecm. This was a common problem and the main reason most people were throw Caddy's threw the front windows of dealers back then to show their hatred of the so called technology.

Ok Jim, does that also make sense to you from a balancing point of view? That picture says a 1,000 words, thanks.

                  Re: Cadillac 4-6-8 Question.

I'm glad someone found it before me since I don't know off the top of my head and the one one in the yard isn't accessable this weekend, if it's even still there.

Ya'll did exactly what I would have done, look at the rocker arm sollenoids possitions.

You thinking of deactivating the injectors on your BBB and trying to keep it ballanced while running? For the oddfire 6 (if you are messing with that intermediate step) look at the old cap for your 231 oddfire and see which cylinders are gone there, its just a V8 cap with missing connections.

                    Re: Cadillac 4-6-8 Question.

Well I might try that too down the road. What I was primarily thinking is that if my Buick dies on me I might try a Caddy engine and see about going the 468 route on a larger displacement engine, and already have my injectors wired up proper. A side note will be if one injector bank fails the engine should still be relatively balanced. If I went to a 468 I'd wire it up for only 8 and 4, just skip the 6 all together.

There are a few guys that still play with the V864 stuff

There are more threads about the V864 systems at cadillacpower.com
