  • New close ratio gear set for 700R4/4L60E

New product I found in GEARS magazine.
I cant wait to try one of these.
Made by CK Performance. CK has been great with the 2004R and now is offering a close ratio gear set for the 4L60's.
Last I checked, they haven't listed it on their web site yet. I tried calling last week but were closed till this week.
I'll check again and see if I find out what this costs.

        1st 3.06, 2nd 1.75

I didn't realize it but PATC has them too. For a mere *cough* $1150.00. :-\

I guess it will be some time before I get my hands on a set. :-[

kilgore used to have the super low first gear for the th400
when the planetaries go, it is cheaper to get a reman trans

They made (Kilgore) that set for low HP cars they tend to break.

So Indy, should I give up my quest for a 200-4R?

Is a 700 with that gearset that superior?

How much will a stock 200-4 hold up to?

A stock 200 would probably hold up to 350HP. You can get good parts to make it really stout. Depending how far you want to go with it, you could spend well over $2000 just in upgrades.
The 700 is about the same. That planet set I posted from CK is also $1150.00.

You can get more for the 200 as far as upgrades go.

                  I've got a line on an '85 Buick Lesabre with a 200 4r .... whole car for $400.

                  Should I snag it?

174k miles, I drove it... seems smooth, shifts okay. 307 motor (Buick, not SBC)... bad electrical gremlins, which is why its cheap.

I'm planning on dropping the 200, and swapping it for the Th350 in my truck currently, then just reselling the car.

Should I grab it, or find something else?

Can you snag it for $200? I got mine from an '83 LeSabre, whole car $75, ran like ass and looked like ass, but the trans did me well until I fried it at 40k or so, which I'll say my sorry adjustment of the TV cable were at fault. (bad geometry? It was always too soft or too firm, never felt right, that and I never hooked the lock up converter up.)
                    Escaped on a technicality.
