    Rear - well, if it's fairground performance and cruising, whatever works. If you plan to put any power in there - that spindly thing needs to go. 8" minimum and good to around 300HP or so with a small Ford. Better to just get a 9" made to the needed dimensions. Under $400 for the housing everywhere.

      I'm pretty sure the Explorer 8.8s are narrower than Fox 8.8s, I know they have 31 spline axles, 4.5 x5 bolt circle, many come with posis and 3.50 or 3.73 gears, and they have an offset pinion. '95 (or '96?) and later came with disc brakes. The significance of the offset pinion is that you can cut the long side of the housing by about 3" and use another short side axle. This cuts the cost by a large amount. 8)
