What part is this...........??

This part came from Dickie Harrell/Jim Kirby's 68 Camaro Funny Car.
I was with the guy today who purchased the car from Kirby and later sold it.
He has a bunch of parts he kept and this was one of them
Part is marked Bendix on top but was in a Mallory box.....maybe just a mistake.
But curious what the part is or used for.
Just neat knowing where it came from.

did a quick search bendix made makes starting vibrators for aircraft magneto ignitions on aircraft. ?using it for ing. on car ?not sure someone shed more light on this?

He mentioned that he had all the parts they
used to start the car.......one of those devices that
used on the front, not a typical turn the key kind of thing.

Info I got from another forum where I posted pic:

My Dad worked at Scintilla in Sidney NY (I was born there) for Bendix back in the '50s and '60's. He was pretty surprised to see the picture. He says that the vibrator would have been used with a high tension coil to provide "a shower of sparks" to fire the engine equipped with a magneto ignition. They made magnetos for airplane engines

a starter vibrator operably connected to said start switch and said first magneto, whereby engagement of said start switch engages said starter vibrator to provide an enhanced current impulse to said spark plugs via said first magneto; and
