  • Rebuilding a 454 HELP

    Hi people

Please help, Im in the process of rebuilding a 454 chev and im using my old closed chamber 396/427 heads the pistons i want to use are L2399F30 forged but in the listing it states not to be used with closed chamber heads BUT on other forums they have been used

Can anyone tell me for sure if this is going to be possible before i part with my hard earned cash (there is absolutly no one over here in the UK that will say that you can )

if the listing , list it as a no go.. well......
but like anything, it can be done and they can be used, BUT most likely it require cutting the piston tops..(machine work)
you'll be money ahead if you find pistons that are made to work with your heads, that will not need to be flycut

have done it and yes cutting and machine work needs done
with the piston choices out there cheaper to get ones that work without the headaches

strange, on the Summit web page they show these

as the 2399 for open chamber heads

        and these

as the 2349 for closed chamber heads

HOT ROD is “where it all began,” as the first magazine to cover the hot rod culture. Since that time, HOT ROD has evolved into a brand devoted to everything from hot rods to restomods, barn finds to project cars and everything in between.

These are just 2 of the forums that ive found out of around 7 where people have used them and i can see a slight difference on the slope of the pics thanks for the reply's so far ;D

the obvious solution is to get some of these

and put a blower on it
