      Re: Bizarre question

1941 Continental F162 (not a Lincoln Continental...Continental is the engine manufacturer) flattie 4 banger. Prest-O-Lite distributor.

I just want to find some clips. I can modfiy the ones I find and make them work because I KNOW I'm not finding the application specific ones.

If you can, I'll enroll you into the beer of the month club on my dime.

Brain... I got the answer... for real...

The Continentals are still remanufactured all over the country... for replacement parts find your local Forklift dealer... my first bet would be a Hyster.... but virtually any of the old one's used the Continental Y112

If I am looking at the right cap (http://www.smhco.com/images/pdf/cata...ition08WEB.pdf) couldn't clips from a standard Points Distributor from a GM or Ford be used or modified? Or have you tried?

Silver Buick....That's probably what I am going to end up doing. I saw the Continental caps in that catalog (which is friggin insane...I bookmarked that link) but this thing is kind of a weirdo and I did not see the specific cap that's on my piece.

Turk...You rule. I knew that these things were in tons of fork trucks (and tens of thousands of Lincoln "Pipeliner" welders) but the thought never crossed my mind to call one of those places. Sweet. I'm going to melt the phone down tomorrow.

Thanks dudes...this certainly is one hell of a place.

              Re: Bizarre question

Find an old junkyard, look in their distributor collection, usually they keep all that kind of stuff separated into old vans or something.

Autolite was made by ford. Prestolite was independent, I think

                    Re: Bizarre question

You can get a new distributor from Pertronix for those engines. I put one in the Continental flathead 6 in my Baker forklift and it was the best mod I've ever done to it. To bad I tossed the original dist, probably had the clips you are after.
