"Face-Plated" Street Trans?

Is this where they put the steel plates on the face of the trans and the rear of the gearbox on the trans before the tailshaft? I think its only done on aluminum cased transmissions where the case distorts under power and allows the gear mesh to change.

Yes I have had a Doug nash 5 speed face plated 5 years back, it works great. That is my back up transistion now. I bought a G-Force 5 speed 2 years ago and I have hade no problems. The only thing I would sugest is to make your shifts quick and solid.
