painless kits are nice. like Jeff says, makes a long job a short & clean one.
most of the time when I wire up a car, we use OEM distribution panels, fuse boxes etc. Crown Vic Cop Cars have beefy panels that can support a ton of high draw electrical stuff (water pump, intercooler pump, big fuel pump, e-fans, etc.). But I love it when someone shows up with a pre-made kit that can be in the car in minutes...
Keith, I always try to set it up so the harness can be installed and removed easily. Not sure if that matters in this application, but I always consider the engine/trans might be coming out of the car many times during the life of the wiring, so I make sure it's out of the way and easily removed for troubleshooting.
