    Howdy,

Well I feel rather ashamed to be asking this but maintenance got away from me and I'm now to 100K miles on my LS and I've not changed the transmission fluid. Is it too late and am I living on the clutches in the fluid or is there still time to change the fluid out?

    Thanks,

I bought it with 30K miles on it. It's been a lot of freeway miles since I drive my truck to work daily and the wife doesn't drive much. Therefore we largely take it on longer trips or really short ones to church or the Dr's office.

How does the fluid look now? I think it's a 50/50 deal as long as it isn't smoked already.

at are dealer we would offer to dsrop the pan but we would not do a power flush on it

but really at this point you might be better off just leaving it be

all I can say is my Lightning e40d is at 146k with no changes and about 50k of towing cars up and down I35... and I won't change it until it dies. Every one I've done has puked immediately. I think you either do it religiously, or you don't touch it until it's dead.

I'm beginning to see that it's something best to be left alone. If it does go, I'll get it rebuilt since I love the car.

Not if you rebuild diesel trannys. Those guys want me to put their kid through college on one transmission.
