looks as if I might be running the front frame clip from my S10 in the F100 and would require me to run a rear sump oil pan for the 302 - good/bad idea - whos done it - pros/cons

http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f10/mu...59/index2.html - this guy did a nice job for cheeappp.
not just the clip... but this is a 4wd truck. He's saying he doesn't know if it will work with 2wd (different x-member) but after looking at doing this on dad's s10, I think it will work. There is good discussion over the motor mounts and other stuff on this page too.
I think a truck pan might work. It'd be great if there was an S10 frame sans engine to toss it in and see. The front distributor should sure help with space.Last edited by Beagle; December 30, 2011, 03:34 AM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

Back before you could buy stuff I welded a plate across the front so you had to turn the pan sideways to cleaar the pick up and then lower it down so oil would not just run back on take off2007 SBN/A Drag Week Winner & First only SBN/A Car in the 9's Till 2012

Shouldn't be a problem with rear sump though.

Keep in mind that a Ford Econoline van oil pan is the exact same thing as a FOX mustang pan (rear sump with that mini front section)......and tons cheaper/easier to find in a junkyard.Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Charles, from a trip through the garage, the 351 truck pan is a rear sump. It's damn close in shape to a Chevy rear sump from a late 70's car. It may need a little mod but I'm not sure yet. The 302 may be a double hump like a Fox which is definitely close to the right shape.
Pickup and pan is all you need really. FWIW, the 460's came with a rear sump that looks like it might fit. HA!Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.
