    Thanks.

I did some measuring before pulling the 3ow7. It was close in places already but I do have about 2 inches to play with. I have the stock 455 exhaust manifolds but really want to use the headers.

I have been watching this thread. Good luck on the install. It really shouldn't be too bad. It is only an inch or so different in size

I did some parts swapping today prepping the 455 for the install.

Don't know that I feel like taking the time or wasting the gas to put the 3ow7 on the running stand for a destruction video. That being said, IF I don't tear it down to see the damage already done, self-destruct video will still be a possibility.

I bought headers for the 455. It was a best guess as the big block Olds ended automotive production in 1976 so finding a listing for a bbo in a later model B-body is not going to happen. If the headers don't fit the car then the odds of a destruction video increase. The point I'm trying to make is that there is no muffling system for the 3ow7 so the knocking rod won't be audible on video over the open manifolds.

Should I make a video of it running on the stand with the rod knocking? I know there are some twisted individuals here that would like to see something like that.

I hope I don't jinx myself but with this week's turn of events the scope of the Turd(le) may have changed slightly, or drastically. I have to say THANK YOU to SBG but what I stumbled on myself has made all the difference in my vehicular outlook. Practicality may dictate a sbc in this now. Either way the 307 is coming out this weekend if I don't feel too bad.

it's been done a lot apparently. There was a TON of room in my MC with a 350. I believe I put the headers in from the top with the engine in place. I know, it's not a 455 but still, it takes a lot of room for long tubes to go in from the top.

with enough cutting, grinding and welding, i'm sure it will fit, lol.
if a dumb redneck can put a small chevy in an s-10, im sure you can stuff a 455 in a wagon.
years ago i stopped worrying about bolting in the frame part of motor mounts. drop the motor in where it wants to be with the frame part of the mounts lightly installed, and tack weld them in. tacks are fine on the pass side. lay some good welds on the drivers/torque side. a chain or torque limiter is always a good idea on the drivers side too.
i think the exhaust will be the biggest headache. ???

A 455 should fit, 500 cad's fit and they are dimensionally bigger I believe. It may well sit on the same motor mount position.

this thing still in the tech section?

this thread started as a tech thread that turned into a project thread...I will, if I have to, copy/repost into a project thread but would rather, if it's easier (for me anyway) for an administrator or moderator to move it to the project section

It has a 307sbo in it from the factory. I have done some measuring and it should fit even if it is a little close.

I'll find out for sure before rebuilding the 455. If it doesn't fit I'll throw together one of the spare 350s. I have options, many options.
