  • lift pump / carb'd motor / inline pump?

I'm wondering about the fuel pump in the Mustang with a carb setup. I sorta understand volume / pressure but I figured I would toss this out here for thoughts.

88lph 40psi pump, regulated down to 6psi. At 39psi it's supposed to be good for about 300 hp. I hope to be making north of that. I have a 190lph Walbro, would it make sense to use that or go with a carb type setup and use an inline Holley or something like that?

Will the electric in tank pump be a problem for priming an inline pump, or am I thinking dumb and need to gut it for a regular carb style pickup and use a big electric? The Holley stuff I find says mount it as low as possible, I'm guessing for a siphon type prime?

Do you guys think I should toss the in tank or will it be okay to supply fuel to a bigger in line pump? Thanks in advance, my brain has gone soft today.

Put a return style reg on it and and I'd bet you will be ookee dokee.

why not just leave the injection on it? have you looked at the calendar?

I've looked at my wallet, and the bank vault is echoing.

MAF and 30# injectors $$ > already owned 190lph in tank. The 351 fuel lines got lost in custody battle (long story) and 24# injectors I already have are bordering too small. I also have a Hurricane dual plane and vacuum secondary 750. If I'm lucky, it'll fit under a flat hood. GT40 stuff I have I gaurantee won't fit under a flat hood.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot, hopefully by Tuesday. I have a date with the inspection guys this weekend. Having title hassle with the GT so screw it, I'm going to get the 90 notch and swapping in the 302 out of the LSC, get it inspected, then 351. Between 3 5.0 cars, I think I can.. I think I can... lmao.

        If nothing else, I'll have a 5.0 / T5 looking for a nitrous kit, maybe a 351 / Tremec instead.

I gave up on the AOD for the moment. Two grand ... ouch.

I like the Walbro 190LPH idea with a return style regulator so you can suppprt the N/A and N/A+N2O configurations.

I agree with the return-style regulator. That way the pump doesn't know the engine isn't using all the fuel you're pumping. Often used 'em in dyno set-ups.

The reason for the pump low and near the tank - pumps don't like to draw but love to push. If you can gravity-feed fuel to it the pump will run forever.

I just got in a high pressure tank today, was thinking big pump for carb, and return..but just the bigger size of the drain, and be it harder tank..bam. totally different world, don't even have a big pump yet. it even has a different echo. satisfaction.
