    Thanks guys!

Basically what I was thinking, I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn't have a headache if I did so. I planned on running premium and cranking up the timing a bit anyways. I plan on getting a complete exhaust system as well. Eventually the car will get a full resto, but for now I want to drive it. Especially before the snow hits.

        Whoops.

Working nights can suck sometimes, the lack of sleep can catch up on you quick...

Depends on where the timing is now. Those low compression engines with small cams can sometimes run as much as 48* total timing. That includes initial, centrifigal and vacuum advance. I would start with the factory setting. It would be on the emissions decal on the radiators top support. My '73 Monte Carlo's L48 350 4 bbl was 12* initial. I just saw a 74 or 75 El Camino at the salvage with a 350 2 bbl that said 20*. Work your way up 2* at a time. I'd also get a spring/weight kit from Moroso or some one.
