    Combination Intake/Exhoust Sealing

The Benz 5 cylinder has a combination intake and exhaust gasket like my 6 cylinder Chevys had. I had a tough time getting the manifolds to seal to the head. The M-B at least is all stout cast iron but still - should I use a sealant (maybe copper RTV) on the gasket. The gasket composition looks sort of like MLS. I just bolted it up dry but I'm wondering what you guys have done.

I've used Copper High Tack on just about everything for years with great success...

My wife's 94 Wrangler had 2 broken manifold studs in the head.
I got one out, the other wouldn't budge.
I (liberally) sprayed the the head, manifolds, gasket, & slammed it together.
It never leaked, ever, not even a peep & stayed that way.

My friend who owns a car garage uses it on LS exhaust manifolds.
The bolts break off in those too. He tells me they stay quiet & no come backs.

That's my <--those are copper too, sorta.

A guy on the M-B forum had the same suggestion. I've used K&W Copper Cote (same idea, I'm sure) with great success but I wasn't sure on MLS-style gaskets. I think I'll use it just to give myself some insurance.

      THANKS!

try natural continuity first. I ran a 250 chevy, the goops are terrible.

you must be referring to diesel 5 cyl, they get away with more.
