  • How to buy racing slicks and supporting stuff...

Ok, my turbo bbc 04 silverado needs stickier tires. I have never bought slicks til now and have no idea what i need. I think i need slicks and then tubes and then to screw them to my wheels.

I got the wheels 17 x 9 pro comp steel wheels, i want to run the Hoosier Drag Racing Slicks 18157 28 x 10 x 17. What else do i need or what is the right way to do this?

You will need a stiff sidewall slick IMHO at that weight.. And Moroso rims screws.. Start at 12 lbs

Weight and horsepower numbers would help. Id try mounting them dry then put hi tack on the bead. Is it still got leafs?

What year of big block valve covers are you using? I like those.

get some good quality studs for your rims/slicks. i made the mistake of using factory studs with slicks once and it sheared all 5 studs off one axle on a shift! never did find the rim/tire, lol. last time i saw it, it was passing us up, and i had a 100' rooster tail of sparks behind us from the traction bar!

You have a manual transmission in that truck? Is the rear end built?

I never ran tubes. Lots of people don't - even with rim screws. Have to get the metal screw together valve stems, though.

The tire shops around here usually have them in stock.

Ditto. I ran MT ET Streets w/o tubes or screws. The bead/seal never broke.
