  • bearing clearance

i was wondering what an acceptable main bearing clearance is for a mild street driven 350 chevy. i have a .010 under crank and using plasigage my clearances are measuring out to be between .0015 - .002. is this ok? can i trust plastigage? i would prefer to use a dial bore gauge, but that doesnt fit into my budget right now.

That's at the tight side of the spec, but should be ok.

Plastigage is tricky...might try it a few times to double check.

is there any way to get another .001 clearance without buying new bearings?

Polish it up. A lathe works good for that, otherwise it's a lot of work.
