  • Early 8.75" Mopar rear ends

I need to pull the 3rd member out of a '62 Imperial. I know I have to use a hub puller to get the drums off but do I need any special tools to remove the axles? I seem to remember reading (I think in an old Mopar Muscle) that on an early A body rear you could replace the axle shafts and brakes with the later (66 up?) pieces. Anyone know if I could use the brakes off a '68 New Yorker, and if the housings are the same width axles too?

I'm unsure if the C-body is any different, but if they are like B-bodies, then you can easily swap to the one-piece axles and brakes.

Imperials from that era are kind of strange, with the 5.5" bolt pattern, etc. So I would not make any guarantees. But in general, the housing ends are the same.

Yeah, Imperials are kinda strange, but if the housing ends are the same it should be ok. I want to change to 5x4.5 bolt pattern to match the front discs anyway.
