But I will say Duplicolor silver brake caliper paint looks just like aluminized pipe and hold up really well. I wouldn't use it on headers but from the collector back it works great
same here with BBQ paint. I am not sure why but a friend painted his exhaust manifold (on a turbo car no less!! hotter than hell) perhaps as a joke, and we were amazed that the paint lived up to the heat (and even seemed to reduce underhood temps) for a surprisingly long time.

I'll be trying out some Plasticote 1500° high temp paint on my headers soon, when I drop the V-8 in it. I really wish I had a way to cure it properly. They recommend air drying for an hour, then baking at 650° for an hour. 500° for an hour and a ½ didn't do it. That's a little less involved than VHT's Flameproof with 4 or 5 stages of cure, the last of which calls for like 800° or 850° for more than an hour. I've read that the VHT has lasted some folks for over 10 years though, might be worth it...... 8)
The reason I asked,is because the local Ace Hardward has some. It's made by Forrest Paint Co.,and comes in different colors.
Searched internet today, and found their site.Say's it's good for exhaust systems.Prob.not as good as VHT,but it is readily available.
I try to limit how much stuff I got on my ride from Home Depot. I've had great luck with the DEI exhaust paint (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku). The stuff forms a pretty durable coating and has held up great on my exhaust for the past 5 years. It comes in black and silver.

I'm laughing !!!! Every time I hit Home Depot or Ace Hardware to buy stuff for the hotrod I think to myself "Geez, I hope none of my racing buddies see me in here picking this stuff up...."
