  • Internal Engine Paint

    Howdy,

I've done some epoxy work on the inside of my hybrid timing cover and I'm worried about it soaking up oil and failing and putting little bits into my oil. I've been reading about painting the inside of engines with oil shedders to enhance drain back and that sounds like the perfect stuff for keeping my epoxy dry. GE Glyptol has been mentioned a few times as it seams to be impervious to just about everything but I don't know how easy to get or apply it is. Any suggestions for a DIY person to use?

    Thanks,

      Thanks,
You nailed it. I get it from my local Car Quest machine shop.

There are a number of differient types of GLYPTAL paint.

Follow the product application instructions to the letter.

Wipe the areas to be coated w/a etching solvent.

Multiple thin layers (2-4) are preferable to thick applications.

Note the curing time required between applications.

Control the optimum temp/humidity from start-to-finish.
