I like my factory aluminum wheels ,they just are not wide enough. Anyone ever had a set widened 2or 3 inches? If so did it turn out well and who does it?

    Re: widened wheels

    These guys have probably
worked on more GM TA wheels
    than any other shop anywhere.

Everyone's been well-pleased by these folks:

Ask for Jim Lyon. Tell him what you're wanting to do.
They can do any backspacing and/or any width specified.

If you're not sure, they can advise you from experience
on how to determine what would be a good decision.

Has done many differing jobs on various types
of wheels for us (& our friends) over the years,
including both steel and aluminum, as well
    as wheels using both materials.

Always good prices & outstanding worksmanship. -- HTH

I've seen, back when SS impala's were new, wheels that were widened 2 inches on the back side. but the guy wouldn't tell me who did them! He acted like it was a government secret!

Hehehe...some people hold their cards close, eh?

We've seen that lame "secretive" act pulled on lots of

things through the years, but you'd think the internet

would've made that kind of "jive" extinct by now. ???

We're always happy to help when we can.

Lots of fine folks have sure helped us. ---

He just didn't want a bunch of "Johnnie come latelys" copying his idea. If enough people copy you; then you become lame as everyone else.

It wasn't the other guy's "idea"...he just asked

that dude "Who did your wheels?". Most would

            have been flattered/proud you'd asked. It's

sorta cool to be among the 1st to have anything,

but pretty selfish & unrealistic to believe you

will be the only one to have anything desirable.

Likely the shop who widened the Monte SS wheels wasn't the first/only shop doing them,

and they definitely didn't do just that 1 set especially for "Mr. Mystery".

(Certainly isn't like asking for cam-specs or valve-angles or fuel-blends...no horsepower involved.)

            Nothing Area-51 about it. ;)

But, so much for "brotherhood" in some neighborhoods, eh?

              Re: widened wheels

I think I've got some sort of record for widening factory rims. I had Weldcraft out of Michican widen a pair of Marauder Rims and add 8" so I could fit a set of 18x18x29 Mickey Thompson S/R Radials under the car.

              Here's the pics:

I think I paid $300 a wheel to have these done.

              Tell 'em JohnnyMarauder sent ya.

Man I would love to see those on your car! It's like you doubled the width ! No vibes or anything?

                  Re: widened wheels

Yes, it did double the width to 16". I was going for a unique look where from the side it would look like a normal factory rim/tire combo but on a back-halfed tubbed Marauder. I can remember sitting in my friends garage where we did the back-halfing and the anticipation of seeing on the axle with the body back on for the first time...

and with the body back on the frame...

I can remember laughing hard when Mark grabbed an Arkansas Ruler (Busch Light can) and held it up to the tire to measure... I have that picture somewhere too. LOL!
