  • school me on holley emulsion holes

Can someone explain to me what they do and why some metering blocks have more than others or none at all? Thanks.

There are holes at the top, middle and bottom, the top holes effect the lower rpm levels, the middle holes effects the mid range and the bottom holes effect the top end. Going bigger leans the mixture, whereas going smaller richens it up.

To add more to what I was saying and answer more of your question, the more holes there are the more tunability you have over the rpm range. But in order to tune these jets(holes) your going to need to log AFR's while driving the car. For the most part the factory setting from Holley is good to go and you won't have to mess with them.

I dove into the carb tuning stuff awhile back. I had some luck, my car makes about 500hp and it will get 13-14mpg cruising at 3500rpm and then run 11.20s at the track without touching the carb. I didn't scratch the surface of carb adjustments, but from what I did learn I decided to go EFI lol. I have an ms3x built waiting on the car to be taken down after drag week for install. I learned a lot from searching around on yellowbullet. There is lots of information out there. What helped me the most was knowing the total fuel flow of the carb and using that to move it around where I wanted. Idle feed restriction + jets + power valve channel = total flow area.
