  • Used vs New EFI sensor

    Howdy,

when ya'll are doing EFI swaps do ya'll grab all new sensors for your motors or use ones that came with the harness or motor? It's about $300+ for only about 2/3 of the total sensors on an 3800 V6 and thats not including the MAF, cam, or O2. Think its worth using the sensors that came from the L67 salvage specialist with a new O2 and knock?

    thanks,

O2 and MAF sensors would be the only ones I would really question. But use everythig you can at first, then worry about ti later

      agree

you should be ok with the maf sensor but can replace, but if you go to a speed density (such as a mega squirt) system then you dont even need it. as far as the O2 sensor goes replace if using norrow band but would look into getting a wideband from innovate, you can get these on the net (diyautotune.com for example)

Thanks, I have a GM LQ4 85mm MAF to use anyway. The O2 is going to be like ya'll suggested a Wideband with an anolog output. Looks like I'm going to be making an order to my friend the W-body salvage expert for a full set of take off sensors and injectors.

Ah... ok. The tricky ones that I don't know if are ECM routed are the Oil level and oil pressure sensors. Oil pressure wouldn't surprise me, level is probably just a dash light one.

what year is the motor and what car did it come out of?

if you unplug the oil pressure pigtail and turn the car on does the mil lamp come on? the oil light may come on.
