  • TPI w/no VSS?

Is there a way to run TPI with no VSS (stock harness, stock ECM)? (.... MAF TPI, '86-'89)

Is that controlled by the PROM, or is it an internal function of the ECM?

I've got a line on a stock harness & 1227165 ECM from the same donor car, and this popped into my head.

What other surprises might I be in for when installing this into a bare-bones truck?

I think vss is only used for converter lockup on the older ones like that. should be ok without it?

did they have VATS yet? (anti-theft)

You can probably use an aftermarket cruise control speed sensor to provide a signal for the VSS input.

Or find that speedometer gear thread on the main tech forum there's a link to a site that has what you need
