I got my ms3 and expander board in the mail on Thursday. I have started on it but haven't had a ton of time.

Slowly making progress, almost to the testing portion of the build. I got carried away and installed about 5 capacitors in the wrong space, that was fun to undo but I got it handled. The bathroom remodel and the 4 month old don't allow extended periods of time to keep thrashing away. I actually really enjoy the board building way more than I thought I would.

I call it Lego's for adults I've gone through my fair share of copper braid solder wick moving things around, lol.
        Escaped on a technicality.

Thats pretty true on the lego thing lol! I have some copper braid solder wick but I went and got a de-soldering iron for $14 at radio shack, worked pretty good. I'm kinda sad that I will have this done kinda soon and I won't start putting it on the car until after drag week. I can get some education on tuner studio with the stim boards in the interval so that should help the initial startup. I think due to my cam I will be Alpha N at least at lower RPMs.

DieselGeek would have the experience to know for sure, but I'd be surprised if if you'd have to run Alpha-N at lower rpm. Given you can change the numbers on the Y-axis (and X for that matter), you can put the resolution of your vacuum around idle, around cruise and around WOT pretty easily and tune within that window.

Looking at Jeff's car in 2010/11 and this video from DG, idling at 1,500rpm was just under 10inHg vacuum, and I seem to recall it actually idling lower, which is lower vacuum, when I stuck my head in the window while it was idling. What is that, 4,300cfm worth of throttle bodies on a small block?

I have a lot to learn about this that is no doubt. I don't know what vac mine pulls at idle but I will find out before I take the carb off, cam is [email protected] on 360 cubes.

Its all together now, I need to put some firmware into it and see how it powers up in tuner studio. It passes all the voltmeter tests and the computer sees it when you plug it in, thats as far as I got last night. Not sure when I will get to mess with it more, hopefully this coming weekend.

There is some jumper stuff I have some questions on but no big hurry on those. I have a Jimstim and stimX board and will be "running" it on tuner studio so I can see if anything doesn't work.

And for reference, the little surge tank I made is working like a charm. I've put over 16 gallons in the tank while filling up at least twice so far, which if the 18gallon capacity is correct around 1.5 gallons in the tank with no effect while driving.

That's good to hear, that's likely how I will start out with my fuel system. I found some time tonight. I put Erik my 4 month old in my lap and walked him through the firmware install. It went well, I got tuner studio fired up and it comes on and the tps and coolant knobs work on the jimstim, didn't try anything else since I need to setup my wheel settings and such. I have a lot to learn! But it feels good to see it do things on the screen.

Got rpm tonight, played with tuner studio some. Tuner studio is very nice and pretty easy to understand even being a newbie to EFI. I got outputs set for my fans, played with nitrous control as well. It all works on the stimx board. I would love to get this on before drag week but there is just no way. I am going to have a thousand miles on it In tuner studio before I get it on the car lol.

Instead of an external surge tank this surge box is what I'm installing in my aluminum fuel cell since the small sump is not enough low level fuel control for EFI.
I will install a -12 bulkhead fitting through the cell an attach the surge box to the fitting that will serve as the pickup. Will also run a line from the fuel return into the box to keep it full similar to how an OE fuel module works.
If you have a stock tank maybe this can be attached to the tank bottom so the stock pickup is located inside, or maybe this spawns some ideas how to fab something similar around the pickup with a couple of oil pan style trap doors.

That is pretty interesting, not sure I could use the exact thing but I could probably build something similiar. Thanks for the link.

I really like that tank. I've looked at a few similar to that one, but that's the best one I've seen. Just can't bring myself to spend $100 =P

Ah heck, just looked and there's surge tanks all over ebay. Interesting.
