  • JB Weld for injector bungs

I've seen a few people using JB weld to hold injector bungs in and was wondering how long they last. Has anyone been running a car with JB welded bungs for a couple of years? Also how well do they stand up in a boosted application?

I take solace in the fact Holley shows it as an option in their injector bung installation instructions.

JB Weld is surprisingly effective in that application. We used it on the Maverick on our custom TBI: tack welded the bungs in place, then filled the gaps with JB.

I have JB weld sealing up the front of my oil pan (the welds were pinholed so I got them as close as I could with steel then filled it in with the 2 part epoxy. I have quicksteel in the timing cover too as a filler between the aluminum sections then formagasketed it in place. I'd be more worried with it breaking down overtime vs its strength. Gasoline is a pretty good sovlent.

Yeah, I didn't think strength would be a problem, just concerned with how well it will last. How difficult is it to weld the bungs in without distorting them? I have a friend who's good at TIG welding aluminum but would I still need to ream the bungs out afterwards?

I would, welding to cast is tough you have to throw a good bit of heat at it.
