  • Car & trailer security

What are you doing to secure your Drag Week car and trailer at night when traveling between tracks? I know some of you are hard-core enough to sleep in your car or watch out your hotel window all night, but I'm getting too old for that.

    Thanks!

There may have been an occurrence that i am not aware of, but i have not heard of anyone having any issues with their stuff at the hotels. There are racers coming in ALL night so their is usually someone out side. Just lock up the car and trailer and sleep well.

I have my trailer set up to where most things (tools, slicks, etc) are locked up and fairly secure. I always just take a cable lock and loop it through any loose stuff like jack stands or gas cans. They would have to really want something bad to try to steal it.

As for the car, it's a Fox body and it's ugly so I don't have much worry about someone trying to steal it. lol

I'm leaving the trailer at home, hopefully, and keeping my pet rattlesnakes under the car at night.

Thanks guys. Looks like reasonable precautions should work, especially since I'm renting an enclosed U-Haul trailer and can lock it up.

I like to use pad locks on the safety chains too. That way a would-be thief cannot just pull the receiver pin and roll the trailer away.

Padlocking the chains is a good idea. I also use a locking receiver hitch pin and a padlock through the hitch ball release latch.

I have tool boxes with pull handles and wheels that I'll just roll into my hotel room... Spare parts too. And I'm having an alarm system installed on the car next week that will call my phone if someone messes with the car... That's the only way I'll be able to get any sleep at all.
