I heard on the live feed that they were looking for feedback and suggestions from the competitors. DF mentioned a couple of email addresses but they escape me right now. IIRC re also said he did not expect major changes and thought that the existing class structure was pretty good.

I read somewhere on Hot Rod that the routes might be more challenging , not sure exactly what that would intale, also possibly transponders in the cars that Hot Rod and others could access online to see where the car was at any given time. That seems pretty cool, I know that they do this for marathons and triathlons so fans can see where "their guy/gal" is on the course.

I thought I also heard something about hitting two 1/8 mile tracks in the same day? Could that even be possible?

Why have a half a race? Why have a half a race twice in a day? Just have a quarter mile full drag race once per day.

              Yuk, yuk . . .

Other than the 10.00 bracket race at the end, there's no official "racing" at DW. 660' and no prep are respectable forms of the sport for many of us . . . .

DW doesn't seem to blow up the forum as it used to.

Trying to average in an 1/8th mile ET would be likely be a mess. I *could* be done by applying a formula in the spreadsheet, but I don't expect it will ever happen.

I believe RMRW has an 1/8th mile class should you so desire....

RMRW might not be politically correct in the TEN universe . . . sort of like running at San Fernando (the Pond) back when Wally was in charge. Or not? Who knows?

I may be overlooking something, but couldn't lowest cumulative E.T. instead of averaging adequately rank the classes? That's just a simple "sum" formula on a spreadsheet . . . sort of like a golf score.

I suppose it could, but it would blow up any sort of year to year comparison. Much like NHRA did when they went to 1000' for fuel cars.

If I had to guess, Street Race small block power adder is one of the classes that will see "bigger" changes... It has become an 8.50 index class...

I have been debating what the fix might be... For turbo's and super's you could limit the size. Nitrous is tougher? Jet size is easy to change. Maybe limit the bottle size?
My other thought is to tighten the definition of "small block" (ie. reduce the max displacement?)...

If you reduce the displacement, they just turn up the boost. That won't change things.

It's an interesting situation. Maybe there needs to be an index class in Drag Week. The shootout this year was fun to watch!

I don't feel there is enough differentiation between the Street Race classes and the Super Street aside from the obvious funny car cage stuff.

I would start by requiring stuff that has nothing to do with the powertrain. Full interior (back seat included), buckets seats ok, but no Kirkey or plastic race seats, no mini-tubs, no bead-lock wheels.

I would also take it a step further and make it a foot-brake only, no 2 step class. For no other reason than to make it really difficult to run right at 8.50 over and over.

Make Street Race more like the average cars you might see roaming around on a Friday or Sat night, not the exception cars.

Another way to limit the Street Race class might be to cap the mile per hour you could run by not allowing parachutes. Set it at 150 mph max (the mph where a parachute is required). Run too fast? Can't turn in that slip.

The idea is to have cars that run flat-out all week rather than a bunch of 8.2x @ 170 mph cars dialing back trying to run 8.500000.
