Slowing down the street race classes could be accomplished by eliminating guys being able to use the radial pro or a slick. Guess you could also put a treadwear rating rule in there as well. Easy to police and nobody would have to go through great lengths changing their car for the rules. You could also go to a smaller tire, ie a 235. Adding stockish seats, a back seat or other items are not going to slow the class down, more power is just a couple pounds of boost away.

read this idea somewhere else, so I won't take credit for it...but after watching the replay of Drag Week 2017, I can see some merit to it.
Add the car's RT (Reaction Time) to the car's ET (Elapsed Time), and that's the time that goes into your average each day.
Then we'd have a real race, sort of. And turbo guys would cry Foul.

A racer died in a crash at Byron earlier this year.

Since a lot off these issues are really about the street race power adder classes going faster than 8.50 (making this an index class), why not just kick them up to super street (where they can have a funny car cage and go quicker than the 8.50) That would then leave the street race class with just 2 divisions Small block Naturally Aspirated and Big Block Naturally Aspirated. Just a thought

such an easy fix
Phillip Thomas said elsewhere that they intend to have the new rules out at PRI (in December). So get your rule ideas emailed to [email protected] before then

I would hate to see them just get ride of the class as some have suggested...
After reading through here, I tend to think narrowing the tires makes the most sense... Easiest to verify. (then the question would become what size tire?)
Maybe adding some rules about the interior... I presume the intent would be to move the more modified cars up a class more so than require them to run more boost to reach the same times...
I would like to see a reduction on max displacement, but that is more difficult to police...

Tire size is a tough one. Plenty of guys going way way fast on a 275 tire. Going smaller to a 255 or 235 probably won't slow them down a lot, but would definitely make them more sketchy.
I still think not allowing parachutes in the street race classes would make the biggest difference. How many cars do you normally see on a Friday or Sat night cruising around with a parachute? Zero.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Well we all see 'pro fairground' cars with a parachute hanging off the back at our local car shows, but those cars are rolling on 20 year old MT Sportsmans and never get the throttle opened past idle.
Seriously doubt those cars ran 150mph in the quarter mile......
