It dosen't matter if you win, what matters is that you finish. Plus, you make a number of really great friends while doing it.

I wish I could make it this year, but it is just not in the cards. I WILL be back when I have time.

If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Rhonda is most likely going to spend my birthday this year in Key West with a friend that has a timeshare.....
perhaps this is just the leverage I need to do drag week next year.
(I plan on buying 2 weeks of vacation)

We will see how the ranger comes together for the September club night and see if AOD attempt #2 works as well as it should.

I think the ranger would be a good DD cheapo candidate if for no other reason than I don't care about the body work and it has a handy luggage compartment that negates the need to spend time or $ buying/building a trailer.
There's always something new to learn.

Last year I did not get to meet many BS'er at DW due to everyone being busy, and staying at different hotels. We need to have Chad get a photo of us all, maybe that way we can at least say Hi to each other.

Which reminds me I need to buy new BS wear.

                HOT ROD Drag Week news!
As of yesterday there are 101 cars pre-registered.
Last year there were only 66 signed up by this time.
It's gonna be a big one.

I might as well give up now - I'll never be in the league you guys are - but I'll have a hellofalot of fun thrashing on my junk just the same.
Just like everyone already said, your goal needs to be "to finish". You NEVER know whats gonna happen during the week. If you can finish Drag Week in a car that you built yourself, trust me, you will feel like a bad ass after the last day is over. I dont care how slow it is.
Im pretty sure the winner of BBPA in 08 ran in the 13's or high 12'sIf I remember right it was a teenager too!

DF, Mike, Turk and I were talking about this at Bonneville. Moving it west appears to be making it quite the draw.

                        • Time for the left coast version! As Scott and others mentioned, its an honor to finish. I was one of those who only made it 30 miles in '05.

                          • Here it's August 26. I picked up my new block yesterday. Now I have to file fit the rings and assemble. Waiting for heads. Have to pick up T56 tomorrow am and assemble the new ring and pinion in the 12 bolt. Hopefully this will be a screaming .030 302!

                              • Going out to put the cooling system in. Crossing my fingers for start up within two hours. Then fix the fuel leak, clean the carport up and head on a road trip with it. You know that damn fuel leak is going to take four times long than it should =P
