  • If it was all racing, it would kill the event. You have two choices in racing- bracket racing or heads up. Bracket racing is fun for what it is, but few of the cars that show up are going to be consistent enough to do well. And a lot of people believe bracket racing is boring. BUT bracket racing is the only way an 11 second car has a shot at Larson and the only way you will get a lot of entries.

Heads up racing is cool, but why would anyone show up in a 12 second car if Larson was there? And if you went heads up by class, a couple of the cars that set new class bench marks last year would kill a lot of entries this year- cars just wouldn't show up.

I am ok with it being an et deal. That makes it fair to everyone, IMO. We all have to make the entire week- it is not a one and done deal.

But if you want to race, I will race you heads up if you would like. I have no problem with that. I doubt anyone does.
Why think when you can be doing something fruitful?

      • Regarding the Pump Gas Drags, I don't know for sure, I never was there, but I would think guys would get tired of the pump gas restriction. That is one one restriction that doesn't make a lot of sense. You build an all out motor to win a heads up race, you spend a fortune on the best parts, all carefully and painstaking assembled, an then try to destroy it by running on junk fuel.

        • Too late for me MoparBilly, I just forked over the Silverado’s Pink Slip to finance the fuel expenses for this years DW. See you in Tulsa.

          • It was how they tried to make it a "Street Car" and the 3250 LBS Limit.

I think the one Class fits all was the issue. I took my mule motor N/A and had to add weight, against power adders.

Hot Rod did not have the time to get pictures and stories like they do now so the benifit to them was not high as Drag Week is.

              • I think an additional end of event bracket race for class winners would be effin' cool, but make it an optional thing for a like a $500 cash prize.

That way if somebody didn't want to participate, they could just opt out with no penalty or ill feelings. Maybe let the runner-up race if the winner opts out. 1 car from each class I guess.

Then, you could let the DD bracket winner run the 'class car' bracket winner for overall bragging rights.

This event is a total blast, but I almost feel it needs some kind of finale to cap it off. Maybe the DD bracket race is supposed to do that, but they didn't have it last year so I don't know.

That's about as bad as those guys who build those big horsepower muscle cars, then try to run 10's on 7 inch stock rubber! I mean, what's that all about... oh, uh, I mean, never mind!

A dial your own on the Class Winners might work. Not a Average ET of times turned in.

                      • Heck yeah, let 'em dial what they want for that race. Since it would be for cash, it would be the icing on the cake for surviving the whole week.

                        • I like the idea, dial your own back to back runs, no time to add ice, or work on a laptop. You can dial up or down each run.
