HOT ROD Drag Week 2012, presented by Gear Vendors, is right around the corner! Here is some news and info about attendance, coverage, and racer info on the logistics of the event.

Spectators are welcome at all the tracks! Here is the admission info:

•Registration day, September 9 at Tulsa Raceway Park, FREE

On Monday through Thursday, gates open at 8:00 a.m. and racing hours are 8:30 to 1:30 (subject to change depending on conditions).

On Friday the 14th in Tulsa, gates open to spectators at 2:00 and racing hours are 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.

HOT ROD Drag Week merchandise will be sold on site only. We will have T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, banners, and stickers. We accept cash or credit card.

There are currently 234 cars registered. There were a number of cancellations, and we were able to invite everyone who was on the waiting list. Once we have heard back from those people, we may open up some more spots.

Here are the number of cars in each class as of now: updated as of today

    Unlimited, 17
    Pro Street Power Adder, 12
    Pro Street Naturally Aspirated, 9
    Modified Power Adder, 7
    Modified Naturally Aspirated, 7
    Super Street Power Adder, 6
Super Street Big Block Naturally Aspirated, 3
Super Street Small Block Naturally Aspirated, 7
Street Race Big Block Power Adder, 8
Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated, 15
Street Race Small Block Power Adder, 25
Street Race Small Block Naturally Aspirated, 16
    Gasser/AFX, 8
    Daily Driver, 93

To expedite registration, there will be two lines: one for Daily Driver and Unlimited (neither of which need to be teched for class, only for NHRA safety) and another for all the other classes.

Racers, it will speed the registration process if you make sure to have with you:

    •a current driver’s license
    •vehicle registration
    •license plates
    •insurance card
•competition license if required for the e.t. your car will run.
Many times in the past we have been stopped by folks not being prepared. Also know that we WILL be checking for the headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, and horn.

On race days, we welcome Adger and Donna Smith to the HOT ROD support crew. Adger has years of experience owning and operating drag strips and will be in charge of race operations.

On race day, there will be three run groups:
8:30 to 10:15, All classes other than Daily Driver
    10:30 to 12:00, Daily Driver
12:00 to 1:30, Open to all classes

Breaking up the run groups does several things: 1) Allows the faster cars to run on a fresh track before the street-radial cars, 2) Creates planned breaks for track prep, 3) Allows us to separate staging lanes by class, 4) Makes lines shorter, 5) Allows the Daily Driver racers to watch the other classes run.

Racers will not be held at the track and can depart any time they wish after handing in their e.t. slip.

As for coverage, HOTROD.com will host a live video feed every race day and will also have daily video clips, blog news, and results. Also, follow:

Drag Week will be the subject of two full episodes of HOT ROD TV on Speed. There will also be a Drag Week episode of Roadkill on the Motor Trend YouTube channel.

From the staffs of HOT ROD and Gear Vendors, we hope to see you there

So what is the ET range for street race small block NA? I am registered in Daily driver but my car isn't a DD as I am sure is true for most of the class. It runs 11.50s on a good day. I figured the bracket race on the last day was my only chance at a trophy, jacket, or "good job buddy now go home" as I could get. Did I choose the right class?
