Didn't the hemi Dart make it through the first year?

Can't imagine it would be much different from any other big mopar.

The bottom end on a Hemi is no different then a wedge engine, other then obviously the pistons are different.. The lower end is pretty bullet proof, that's a proven combo for decades.. If there was a weak point, it would be the valvetrain when you hang it on the edge for a DW combo.. I believe we had a pretty serious Hemi that ran in 06, can't remember how things ended up for him, but it was a beautiful car, remember his "clamp on" windshield wiper system.

That would have been Steve Atwells legit 68 S/S Hemi Dart.

I wrenched on the boss's sons hemi back in the early 90's. It was a legit low 11 street car. Bottom end bullet proof, but we had to constantly pay attention to value train / intake. Great sound and power. (very costly to run)
Drag Week 2012 (wet paint and no transmission but finished) Drag Week 2013 Daily Driver finished in middle of pack (again) Drag Week 2014 #56 of 126 Daily Drivers. (getting closer to the 32)

if you are getting a used low mileage unit from a certain orange car, make sure it doesn't have the steering linkage going through the oil pan when you go to pull it.

i would like to build a late model hemi for my charger in a couple years.they are about 300 pounds lighter than the old ones.but the old ones are still badass.and they are without a doubt an icon of our sport.guess thats why they cost so much.lol

If I tried to take a hemi on drag week I'd be sure to have some lash caps, adjusters, push rods, and spare rockers.

If i do this i want the full DW experience. I figure what better way to insure I have the max amount of pain and suffering and fun than to stick an overweight engine with a valvtrain waiting to explode at any given moment in my '55.

and it wont be the one from the 'Bee.
