    • I'll update this with the past weekend's results.

Got there late and the track was pretty busy so I only got three runs in. DA was our typical 6000 feet.

First run was just as I ran it on DW except for jetting, new plugs and a new dist cap.
      1.57 60 11.21 @ 121.2

Second run, I went down to 10 & 10.5 on the tires and put the air filter base (drop base) on it to attempt to improve air flow into the carb. A flat base might have worked better, oh well.

      1.54 60 11.17 @ 120.99

Third run, went with a little more air in the tires. 11.5 & 12.0
      1.55 60 11.19 @ 121.00

Pretty bracket-carish. Haha. It gained 23.8-24 mph from the 1/8th mile on every run.

The main thing to me though is:

      1.) I had a blast
2.) I made it home in one piece
3.) I made 3 clean runs and now have a great baseline to work off of.

So not surprisingly: better MPH with more pressure in the slicks; high altitude/DA kills power and therefore 60 ft., ET, MPH; ET perhaps correlated to 60 ft. time.

Adding tire pressure until it spins will hlep MPH but you may lose due to lower effective launch gear ratio as tire stays taller which says you need more rear gear. The weight shift with the battery move and a light wieght hood will allow better rotation even when you are down on power due to DA. The hood chnage if it makes a difference will be most obvious in MPH. Could you make the hood change easily at the track so the A/B would be more direct?

Is the three runs typical of what you can get in at a TnT? If os its tough to get really good data. After chassis, you can begin to loo at tuning refinements as I assume the jet change was a swag?

Were the five runs turned in at DW all good clean runs, good launch etc? If so the average of those gives you some sense of your multi-track/DA baseline as we had some interesting variability of conditions.

          • Usually you can get in many more runs, but this was the last weekend and they were running a gambler's race in conjunction with tnt. It was a bit frustrating to sit in the tnt lanes for 30 minutes at a time while the gambler lanes were open to hot laps and while they were running jr dragsters. Normally it flows very well.

Jetting is where I had it prior to DW. I had to jet way up for DW.

I won't bother A/B testing a hood. If I decide to switch to a fiberglass one, it'll be a done deal.
