  • So how hard to get in?

With there only being 250 spots , and last years contestants having a 6 hr headstart, what the chances of getting in?
Can past participants register more than one car, for their family and friends?
How will we know when it is open, some of us work jobs that we can be staring at a monitor.
I'm not trying to stir up shit, just questions.

I tore my GTO apart in the spring of 2006 after registering then, and after a life changing event I decided to do DW whatever it costs, to finish the car and do DW! I just hope I get in !

You will.....it will be fine. They should give last years competitors a head start, and then BS'ers 3 hours, and then general public.

I understand and agree with " handicapping" last years crew, you all earned it! Just don't want people "saving" spots. Well unless somebody wants to help a brother out! Lol. I plan on being at the test n tune either way!

I bet this will slow the rush this year.

Pre-registration is $280, plus a $10 processing fee, through midnight Pacific time on Tuesday, September 3. On-site registration is $325. If you sign up and then can’t attend Drag Week, we will process only a 50-percent refund (not including the processing fee) and only for requests made prior to midnight Pacific time on August 15. After August 15 there will be no refunds of pre-registration.

Figure there were less then 200 that started last year, that leaves 50 plus open. Some will not return.

As I said, last year there was a rush and I registered a week after registration opened and I was #80. I'm pretty sure its a perception issue. Like BBR says, that'll deter some "maybe's" and the east of the Mississippi will deter some. There are probably about, what, 20 guys here posting about registering and making it sound like 500 people?
                    Escaped on a technicality.

Yeah, pre-registration ends like the 3rd of SEPTEMBER. In 2011 I didn't sign up until AUGUST. lol

I think Hot Rod has done a good job of doing what they can to try to minimize the guys signing up and then ditching at the last moment. The refund stuff has me in a holding pattern. It's already been an expensive year, so I'm still not 100% convinced I want to go, so there's one spot that will be initially open.
