  • Richmond 6 speed

    So I have access to a richmond 6 speed and debating putting it in the car for better highway cruising, anybody have good luck with them, will it need faceplating to be able to use it.

      It will help crusing on the highway for sure, I ran a Richmond street 5 speed for a couple years and I had it proshifted, it worked great intill I started making more power than the trans could put up with. I killed 3rd gear and it took the cluster shaft with it, it was very expensive to fix. Thats when I went to the Race 5 speed, the stright cut gears will put up with alot more power. Depending on the clutch set up you are running you might get buy with it. If the clutch engages hard then the trans will break. From the pictures I have seen of your motor I think you are going to make more power than that trans can handle. Just my 2 cents. PM me if you have any questions.

              Thanks Mike, I was worried about that, may just keep the slush box. Thought I might step up to a man trans but dont need any breakage.

                              The one I run in the Dart is a G-Force 5 speed G5R it came faceplated. The one in the Cuda is a Doug Nash 5 speed, that stareted life pro shifted and I changed it to Faceplated. The two transmissions are the same as far as case size and they bolt up the same, so I can swap them from one to the other.
                              Both are Stright cut gears, they make some noise not bad in my opion. The Heaical cut gears is what is in the 6 speed and the street 5 speed, they don't make any noise, but their not as strong as the stright cut gears.
