I always wondered what that meant.

Stick cars, bias ply or radial slicks as a general rule.

Automatics with properly set up suspension for each type can run either and most get a few tenths quicker out of the Drag Radials with time and effort and suspension adjustments and shock tuning. If those are beyond your budget, patience, knowledge etc. then by all means use a bias ply slick or ET Street and then decide how you'll deal with the rain that we always seem to get for at least one day of DW.

I was thinking about digging out my old studed snow tires I used to run on my 53 when I drove it EVERY day! From my freshman year in high school, through college and several years after!!

I actually ran both last year. I drove on the MT Drag radial and raced on slicks. They worked fine on the highway and I did not really notice anything out of the ordinary when the roads were wet. I was glad I had the DR's in Ennis because one of my slicks had a hole and would not take a plug. Made a quick pass on the DR's then ran to a tire shop to get the slick fixed.

As said the radial is limited on the marginal tracks... if your willing
to change the tires(and carry a spare set of tires) I would race on
slicks and run the roads on the radials or a good street tire for rain
                EDIT
In DD ... IF you make the top 32 you want the MOST consistent car
you can get... the most important part is the launch and you have
to be on your game for the RT
