  • How would YOU change Drag Week?

HR has said the current rules will be in effect until 2014.

So, if you were in charge, what would you do to improve, change, or stir the pot a little for the next go-around?

Minor stuff it sounds like for next year. Supposedly no major revisions until 2015.
    Escaped on a technicality.

#1 . Cars 10 seconds and faster ( laying low as not to get hit by something ) In all seriousness my GTA will only do a 15 second quarter. Just not what it was built for. If I were ever to run it ,it would be in daily driver it's as fast as I can afford to go. But I think the mission does speak for it's self, find the fastest street cars. So yeah, I'd trim the field on the types of cars that we Bangshifters would probably be running.

I would make the current Daily Driver class be the 10.5 index class. Then the Daily Driver class could be 12.0 or so & up. The Daily Driver class could also have another check point to add approx. 150 miles daily to increase the mileage thus proving the the daily driver ability of the car.

Ok since BS was hammered again.....

Require 2 time slips per class car per track. If you only turn in 1, then you get a 20 for the second one. As it is you just have to make 5 hero passes a week. I'd like to see more drag and more consistency during the week. I am guilty of the 1 and done and in retrospect, I wish I had made more passes at some of those awesome tracks.

With one, or is it two chances to reflect on this topic, I don't it needs much in the way of changes. Although I think the Tuesday and Thursday qualifiers for DD would be fun. To repeat, Quick eight are automatic, but you have to be one based on the five day average to get a slot. The next 32 on Tuesday and Thursday run a set of Qualifier rounds down to the semi's and those four get slots four Friday. So by Friday you have 16 slots pre set. The remaining fast 32 run off to face the 16 pre-qualified in the 32 run off. It let's 16 more cars have a shot and adds drama and racing during the week. Plus if you have a bad day and fall out of the Quick 8 you may well want to try the Qualifier.

                  A little complicated I admit.

On Unlimited, either it is or it isn't, and with Tom Bailey running the table with 6's at every track we've seen an amazing performance. With restrictions, even the "rolled out of a show room" rule, it will turn into NASCAR, or NHRA Pro Stock soon enough and we've seen how that worked out.

No trailers? That would be a game changer with all the crap people would hang off their cars.

one rule i would add or change. they have to use the same tires on the street as they do on the track no changing tires they have to race in street trim sense they are street cars.

I have to agree with Bill that Unlimited will become like NASCAR or NHRA because all the cars will become similar. It's the current diversity and cars looking like production cars that interest me.

Something needs to be done on the 2015 rules to address this and it needs to be announced the first part of 2014.

There are a lot of current and under construction cars that were built within the spirit of Drag Week that are now obsolete.

I would like to see stock wheelbase real glass and at least the cowl, quarters and roof oem type steel.

I disagree. what if this guy in his 1940 something wants to bring some history.. .................... I do not like rice, but enjoyed seeing the hacked Honda, and rx7. I still got a boxer going for mis justice. I cannot make paragraphs for some reason..

The other thing I would do is add a "Street Rod" class so cars like Jason's and Kirby's are not forced to run in Unlimited.
