I don't know if I did it this year, but when I ran in 11 I forgot to put 91 in it at one strip. Car didn't care, ran as fast as always. 11.2x is what it runs when it feels good.My fabulous web page

that's pretty much how I did it. just forgot to put 91 in before the strip. didn't mind one bit!
I accidentally ran it without pulling any timing on 91 octane and 150 shot once before. popped a little but the plugs still looked like new afterwards. got lucky with that one. we pulled 7 degrees on that 11.84 pass. actually was my best time of the week. day five when I got air under the front tires I lifted because it was popping again on 91 and still went 11.84 coasting through. cold air really helps this little Pontiac. it's dropped .4 off the e.t. on the motor since dragweek. went 12.85 a couple weeks ago in good 55 degree air. 13.17 was the best before DW.
I don't think it really cares about the octane, but I do normally run 91 when I spray it, and pull timing of course. insurance. I beat it everywhere else on 87.1980 Turbo T/A - Turbocharged 408ci Pontiac. survived DW 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

I used to spray 225 on 93 octane. But I am sure I got a pass from the N20 gods for simply not having a clue what I was doing lol. I know enough now that if I tried to get away with that it would surely blow up.1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 340 with a 360

150 is the most i've ever tried. this system came with jets up to 250, but i'm pretty concerned with everything behind the motor at this point. i haven't had a lick of trouble from any of it, but everything behind the torque converter is stock, including the original u-joints... 1.56 60' pushing 3800# is probably far enough til i can get an axle and some big u-joints in it. i'm gonna ride the trans as far as it will go. i paid 300 bucks for the rebuild, and 30 bucks for the shift improver plate. hard to beat that.1980 Turbo T/A - Turbocharged 408ci Pontiac. survived DW 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

I think the quickest I ever heard on DW is Todd's Black Camaro, he sprays with a dedicated fuel over the top motor runs on the gas for down the road, so I don't know if it counts but he is in the 7's with it.2007 SBN/A Drag Week Winner & First only SBN/A Car in the 9's Till 2012

I think when I fill up its around 12 gals. and the is $.20 different is price so for $2.40 I don't known if its worth it... On Drag week think we drove around 1200 miles at 10 miles a gal that's 120 gals times $.20=$24.00 that's buying a pop at each trackDrag week 2009 Quickest street rod

lmao... you're probably right, limited cost vs. risk. I've got a set of heads i've been thinking of swapping on, so that will be the end of 87 octane for this motor. it's 8.36 static right now, should put it at 10.86:1. only reason I haven't done it yet is because i'm not positive i'll be able to get away with 91 octane. i've done some dynamic compression calculation, and it seems like it'll come out borderline for iron heads with my setup.1980 Turbo T/A - Turbocharged 408ci Pontiac. survived DW 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015
