  • New ways to fight the heat

After fighting vapor lock, I stepped back and re-thought some things...

    For example:

No more deadheaded regulator... plumbed in a return style with a -10 return. Should keep the fuel a bit cooler.

And.. to help combat underhood temps in general:

Functional hood vents from a... (gasp!).. 2013 Mustang!

Still working on a pan to seal the carb inlet away from the hood vents...
    DW2013 - DNF (Gateway - trans failure)
    DW2014 - SR BB/PA class winner!
DW2015 - Finished in 1 piece (for once!)
    DW2016 - Still "Fox Free" ;)

      "Sano" work for sure!

I hope the vents are not mounted too far back for efficient evacuation . . . or for efficient draining onto the ignition wires during cloud bursts . . . .

New radiator and 4600CFM fan setup:

              Should help with cooling... :D

Looks like the radiator is big enough. I hope the fans are effective, the blades don't look very spiffy....

                  Just an observation....

The way your fuel lines and regulators are situated, it appears they are rather close to the thermostat housing and upper radiator hose. Would it be helpful to build some type of heat shield or to re-route either the radiator hose or the fuel lines to put more distance between the heat source and the fuel?
It's really no different than trying to glue them back on after she has her way.

Optical illusion due to the camera angle.. the lines are more than a foot away from the upper hose, and the regulator mounting bracket is about half that from the thermostat housing.

                      Ah! Thanks for the description.

                      Looks good!

That's a whole lot of plumbing in that fuel system - whoa!

I like the heat extractors AND the hood latches - very nice work.
There's always something new to learn.

                          Thanks!

I should also mention that I'm building a chin spoiler and modifying the front bumper to help direct air to the radiator core to help with getting airflow through the engine compartment..

The important thing is to get out on the road in May-June so you can see how it works....

Got the NMCA race in March for initial shakedowns.. then extended road testing during the summer.

No more "drive it around the block and load it up" trips.. ;)
