  • So who else went backwards with their average ET this year?

I did! The weather was pretty tragic the first 4 days but I was way off of my best ET with the car([email protected]). It should have run 119-120mph friday night and it went 116 something. I fear my thrust bearing death put enough metal through the engine to mess up ring seal possibly. I'll do a leak down and compression test on it soon to figure out whats up.

My other fear is the parts store crank I swapped in 8 days before DW is indexed poorly and messed with my zero deck height and .039 quench. We swapped the crank with the heads on and pistons in so I don't have any idea.

I hope everyone else went FASTER this year as that is always my goal.

I did better...although by Thursday evening things weren't looking good. But Friday morning I got to do some minor tune up work, and Saturday morning things went perfect (too perfect, I had to make a slower pass to turn in!)

      10.25 Monday, 9.96 Saturday

Last year with the heavy 55 I was in the low 11s with a similar mill.

Went the wrong way in a huge way. Truck should be in the low 12's and only managed to get to 12.764 @ 104.64.

        2012 ave 13.9894 @ 96.552 (bad transmission)
        2013 ave 12.618 @ 105.264 (3.72 12 bolt)
        2014 ave 12.9578 @ 102.630 (4.11 / 9")

In 2013 we could of been faster if I would of remembered how to tune earlier.

My goal is to have a VERY drivable 11 sec. work truck. A/C and all. (all motor)
Drag Week 2012 (wet paint and no transmission but finished) Drag Week 2013 Daily Driver finished in middle of pack (again) Drag Week 2014 #56 of 126 Daily Drivers. (getting closer to the 32)

I was DYING to make a pass on Saturday. The DA was 60 feet when I checked it that morning. With the old cam and 28/10.5's, the suckstang might have run a 10-teen or 10-oh. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts.......

How was the humidity that morning... 60ft DA is really nice... I tend to race in the
summer heat and the DA is usually about 2900 ft

Humidity was not bad. Normal DA at home is 7000+.

Clark, thank you very much for all your support and assistance. Delivering the spring tool to the machine shop late night was a really cool gesture - sorta what DW is all about in the final analysis. We had the most fun its possible to have with a car. My son and I slept almost eleven hours total in five nights however we loved every minute of the near constant thrash, both ours and the guys we jumped in to help. Actually, helping other racers at DW feels more like helping the kid up the street build a tree fort than work. Coolest Stuff!

To your question, our car ran about three tenths off the norm, or more, all week. It was our first DW and have never raced in Mid-America before. According to the Computech brand atmosphere measuring device I use, and took with me, the culprit was barometric pressure. In the Pacific Northwest we see 29.9 - 30.3 most of the year. We are spoiled.

I was in the number 13 spot in Daily Driver after the first day in my Caddy wagon. Day 2 was 12. Day 3 was 11. Day 4 was back to 12. Day 5 was after 8 pm with those nice cool temps. First pass was 11.02 @ 128. Second pass was 11.01 @ 129. With only 1 pass left, instead of slowing it down to something slower then an 11.49, I shot for a 10 second slip instead. Damn......another 11.02 @ 129. Thanks for playing.....here is your 20 second time slip!

I went from an auto and nitrous to a T56 and NA. We were planning on spraying nitrous with the T56 but I wasn't quite ready. My goals with the new stick are 10's NA and 9's n2o. We started the week with no traction and an 11.6 @ 122 ish... horrible! Each day we got faster and quicker and by saturday we went 10.99 @ 126.50 yanking the tires but only on a 1.65 60' because it was bogging after the clutch drop and yanking the tires. We still went 10's NA banging gears and learned alot. It should have 10.85 or so in it with a better launch... then we'll spray it and go for 9's. Overall it was a success and we had a lot of fun, didn't break anything, and survived the week!
