29...we lost our triple digit temps last night when a big storm came through Havasu. Rain, lightning and thunder. Weather.com said our temps dropped to 71 but I don't believe that. Anyway, we are heading out soon on an RV trip with Diane and Randy, Matt and Ardis and Ron and Angie.
Life is too short to drive boring cars!

The Black Hills is home to many car events during the summer, Sturgis has a Camaro Rally, Mustang Rally, Spearfish has the Black Hills Corvette Classic, Custer has a Studebaker show, Deadwood has Cool Deadwood Nites, POCI had their Pontiac GMC Convention in Spearfish and the National Impala Show has been in Spearfish and last year Tesla had a planned gathering in Custer. Local clubs have Rod Runs and cruises as well as visiting groups like us. All of this with out mention of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally that wraps up on Sunday. There's always lots to do in the Hills. Here are a few of Jim Mead's shots during the Camaro Rally Car Show downtown Sturgis. It rained during the show, but a good time was had by all......3 PhotosLast edited by 200WINS; August 10, 2018, 08:33 PM.200WINS HRPT Long Haul 2008, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 Bettendorf, WI Dells, 15 Champaign, Madison, 16 OK City, Wichita, KC, 17 KC, Newton

28..... This is another one of Jim's photos. This was at Boondocks, which was a pretty cool tourist trap with lots of nostalgia, cars collection, Diner/Drive in burgers and small amusement park. Boondocks no longer exists, what was the Studebaker Museum is now a volunteer Fire Department and convenience store.
According to what I was told by the owner, this Dragster is suppose to be the one used in "More American Graffiti".
There is a book titled "Happy Days" The birth and death of Boondocks written by the owner Ron Jorgenson. This book is about Ron's life and his struggles along the way. The book left me wondering Why? If you are not familiar with Boondocks, this story may not appeal to you, however, if you remember the cool roadside stop, this is a fascinating story...…..2 PhotosLast edited by 200WINS; August 11, 2018, 06:55 AM.200WINS HRPT Long Haul 2008, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 Bettendorf, WI Dells, 15 Champaign, Madison, 16 OK City, Wichita, KC, 17 KC, Newton
