  • Nothing "extra" this year?

I wasn't able to make PT last year, but went 2014/15/16 and all those years there was a movie night and an "extra thing or two" that we had to sign up quick for to get tickets to get into. In the past I remember Drive in Movies, Top Gear in Texas Motor Speedway, "laps or pace laps" at tracks, lunch or dinners by sponsors (the BBQ Brisket at Painless was PHENOMENAL in 2016), etc.

Haven't seen squat this year. Was anything "extra" done last year?

There are pace laps being offered in Atlanta and there is a lunch stop on the last leg between Raleigh and Concord.

I have not seen anything new about any movie nights this year. The last post I saw was from someone who checked directly with edelbrock who replied that they were not having one this year. I am not really surprised seeing as the turn out and vender support for the event last year was absolutely crap. The drive-inn staff was very supportive and did a great job but had mentioned they did it all themselves with little to no help from edlebrock last year.

Of course 2 minutes after I post this I see the thing on ATL on the HRPT facebook page. For $10 I'll definitely be doing that.

That sucks the vendor support is waning. It's not like PT has gotten smaller...

Do we have to sign up for doing the ATL pace laps in advance?

According to the link below, we just sign up at the infield that day.

Way cheaper than Circuit de Americas, wasn't that like $75 or 100 for like 1 pace lap? Was still worth it... but damn.

I've been up to 90 MPH in Charlotte for different car shows, too many idiots around to go faster, and I did the richard petty experience in charlotte a few years ago and got up to 153 MPH!!! Those cars get up to that speed so fast too.

I thought I remember something early in the year that Edelbrock was not doing a movie night.

I don't think vender support is waning pre-say. We can't really blame edelbrock for pulling out of offering movie nights. Last year (2017) there were maybe 50 people that showed up to the movie night. I also believe people were pulled away by other evening activities that night. Specifically a local dragstrip was holding an event after the main show for HRPT people. I am not sure what attendance looked like last year (2016) at the drive-in event. I skipped it to get a head start down to St. Louis. And then back in 2015 we got rained out, although a few people stuck around and braved the storm.

About 5 years ago, I saw how many thousands of dollars a company paid HRPT to hold a lunch break on power tour. And then the sponsoring company paid for the food, entertainment and maybe t -shirts and hats. I feel HRPT out priced the sponsors, the pay back just wasn't there.

The last movie night I was able to go to was 2014 and we packed it out. Same with TMS in 2016 for Top Gear.

I remember seeing the sponsor dollars somewhere too, and yes, it seemed exorbitant!

You can always try the parking lot! That's where I have the most fun.

Sometime street cruising with the locals can be a lot of fun too.

One of the funnest nights I remember on PT was when we did the street show in downtown Memphis? in 2015.
