The ROUTE is the last thing published. The CITIES and VENUES are known in advance. When you know the VENUE start looking for hotels. Sign up for all hotel programs to get
better rates. If I remember correctly LaQuinta offers breakfast for free that cuts expenses.

Another thing to keep in mind when making a hotel reservation....you can save about $10 a night by paying in advance and it is "non refundable" I DON'T ADVISE THIS, because there are too many unknowns between when you make the reservation and when you actually need the room. $10 well spent.
