Well it seems the perpetrators aren't going to fess up and provide details so here is my theory
Ray's son was trying to flirt with the waitress and told her that there was a birthday at the table.
Earl's dad (trying to show support) told the waitress that the birthday boy was 70 years old and senile so he would deny that it was his birthday OR how old he was.
I can understand Ray's son's motive as he seems to be like a lot of young men - always on the look out for ....
I can only assume Earl's dad's motive was to not be perceived as the oldest guy at the table but I believe that Booby had that one locked down already.
There was photographic evidence documenting the humiliation posted here a couple months ago.
