  • Pondering how Reed Timmer can still rent trucks to chase tornadoes. Would you rent to a storm chaser? Last week they destroyed one with baseball sized hail.

    • Car won't start. Cranks, fires, then spits up. TBI with HEI

      • Had starter wires zip tied to heater hose so it wouldn't touch the exhaust. It melted anyway and now I'm thinking the wire wasn't heavy enough.

Now doesn't fire. Looked at pictures on my phone, had plug wires one off on cap. Overall, cap and rotor etc look ok. Put in a new module and no improvement. Verified battery voltage at coil. Guess I will get a new/different coil and see what that does. Found out where the vacuum cap goes that blew off the other day but now I need a second one. Just hoping nothing is wrong with the TBI setup.

          • NAPA is the only place around that says coil is in stock. Order was supposed to be ready in half an hour. That was at noon. Should have ordered last night. Amazon or someplace could have been here by now.

Didn't get it in until 11am today. 22 hours later from a town twenty miles away. Comes with the rubber washer but not the spring thing that goes to the rotor.

                • Replaced cap coil rotor, module and fixed the wires chewed by the four legged A-holes. Cleaned the battery connections and put a bottle of heet in the gas tank. Cranks but no start then spits up/backfires a bit through the intake. Blew the vacuum caps off twice. Looks like no tach signal from HEI to TBI. Starting to think it might be bad gas not burning fast enough? Might even be sticky valves but engine has maybe 100 miles on it. Poured a little gas down it the other day and same feeling of flooding? Could try spray. Fuel pump does turn on and shows plenty of pressure. Need to find my spark checker.
Firstly installed a pigtail on cap to improve wiring and found power wire to coil was a little melted. Was run from starter now from key on relay. It would always start after you primed fuel pump and as soon as you let off the key.

                  • Got a new distributor from Speedway. Took the old one out and found the wiring for the pickup coil and condenser was pretty spent. https://photos.app.goo.gl/vJKGVkgP8tMyBJz97

Ordered $300 worth of brake and tune up parts from the parts store. Had a special if you bought pads and rotors at the same time. Said 30 minutes to an hour and that was 4:45 last night. They have been open an hour today already and still nothing.

                        • Just now ready at 11am the next day. We'll see if the order is right. They only had one bearing seal so already don't have everything.

                          • Got plugs changed last night. Found at least two or three wires were chewed near the end. Couldn't tell because of headers and wire looms. Of course you can't get parts at 8pm. If I ordered amazon wouldn't get here till tonight. Trying to stay motivated. Was hoping car would run last night. Last time I drove it thought it was low on trans fluid. Now it looks like it was down on power. More updates to come.

                            • May have to get a new battery. Said fully charged then died after three cranks the other day. Less than two years old but sits a lot with a drain on it and hot/cold weather as well as having the charger on it 24/7.

Big freezer finally died after 18 years or so. Filled my trash can just in time for trash day. Thought it was 13 foot but now I think it might be bigger. 70" tall and 32" wide. Whirlpool commercial model made in Canada. Think it came from best buy. They have a similar one but its $1200. Menards has 11% rebate but $100 delivery charge. Last I know NFM was $80 but that was years ago.
Any suggestions? Have been hearing stories about how newer appliances are all junk.
Only other person in my department took the week off and no one said anything. I can only view my schedules not anyone else's. Its been four days and no one has said a thing. Nobody working today on my day off.
Mom's bday is next week and all she got was surgery to remove cancer from her ear.

                              • Jump pack makes no difference. Spark test looks like only after I stop cranking. Doesn't make sense with full power when key is on.
Found a deal on a new freezer. Full size for the price of a smaller one. 21 ft vs 14 ft. 11% back from Menards if bought before monday. Then at check out there's a fee for processing and then $110 for delivery and then $30 install fee and then $20 haul away fee for the old one. That's $161.50 for delivery. In the same town.
