Yep, I'll look for a rebuild kit...the cylinder is a GM part number 15615868. 87 Blazer, or pickup. The cheepie will serve as a spare.

OK boob(y) - YOU can't build a motor for under $10k - especially if you add up all the stuff you will have to change to do a fuel efficient build.

Now lets do some math:
Current combination gets ~10 mpg
$10,000 /$3.00 (per gallon) = 3,333.33 gallons of gas which will get you 33,333.3 miles down the road today. Have you EVER kept a combination unchanged for 33k+ miles?

IF your new fuel efficient build DOUBLES your mileage (unlikely without garage door springs on the throttle linkage) then you would have to drive it 66,666.6 miles before you broke even. Now that is something to look forward to ~67K miles in a weak suck chevy :'( :-*

I think you should buy another 56 and paint it to look just like your car now. Then make one a go fast and one a get good gas mileage car,and of course you can use the same plates on both of them...Heck you only drive one at a time...

when this thread started people were crying about the cold weather, well is summertime here now and like 19days in a row over 100 its 12:40 pm and 94 degrees already weatherman shows 100+ for the next 7 days. Its really hard to want to work on a car in the evening after work, but the good thing is I dont even own a snow shovel. Oh and I stayed at a Holiday in select last night- not really :D
