Re: Things I am pondering today
When I asked him about an "LS something" he baulked saying it wouldn't be right putting an LS in his old girl (his words not mine).
The head gasket deal is an EASY FIX - take those damn high-zoot double throw down copper gaskets and make jewelry out of them! :o I can't believe that a good multilayer head gasket on properly prepared deck surfaces (block and head) won't seal it just fine.
The oil consumption - IN MY OPINION - is a direct result of the wrist pin being damn near above the compression rings AND the fact that he is using 2618 pistons set up at race clearances. I have had a ton of slow fords with 2618 pistons and they ALL used oil. The last build in the wagon I went to 4032 and tightened them up a little bit and it seems to have solved my oil usage to an acceptable level.
In my opinion his current combo works pretty nice but I am sure he could find a way to use another 50 - 100 hp.
